Weekly Updates Week 7: Animations Updates

Our Art Team has been tirelessly working for the past few months to refine and develop animations for all of the environmental effects and power-ups the player will see within the game. One of such is the classic ‘campfire’ and ‘fireball’ animations, which will be seen in places where the brothers can find a moment’s respite and can be used as a handy spell and attack.

Power-ups will be shown as orb-like items found within the world of Raum, and can be used to help Yuyo and Yuki progress on their quest.

Finally, there will be certain switches and triggers that will need to be activated to unlock puzzles and areas within Kinfallen Forest.

Weekly Member Spotlight:

For our seventh DevLog, we asked one of our concept artists MysticArcane to answer a few questions about her background and artistic path that led her to Tumultuous Productions.

Q: Describe your artistic background. What drew you to art?

A: “I’ve always liked drawing since I was little. I played a lot of video games and watch cartoons every Saturday morning. I also read a lot of manga too which really inspired me to draw my own characters. I went to an art high school for fine arts and then I went to college for graphic design.”

Q: Which of your favorite video games that you have played do you think showcases an amazing art direction?

A: “I think Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. Those types of games have really great dynamics cutscenes which is why I always played them.”

Q: How do you go from concepts and brainstorming to actual artwork?

A: “That can take a while for me... Usually when given a concept to brainstorm I would spend almost a whole week just sketching ideas before I’m set on one. Then I start to refine it into artwork and clean it up.”

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself!

A: “I just graduated college and I’ve always wanted to work in gaming or comics. I like drawing and playing video games on my spare time and I like to cosplay too.”

Q: Do you prefer drawing on a computer or by hand, and why?

A: “I like to draw by hand more. With a computer it’s so easy to just erase and start over. Drawing by hand you can’t undo anything so it helps to commit to a drawing.”
